Questions About Pet Deposits in Ontario: What’s Legal?

I’m a bit confused about the rules for pet deposits in Ontario. My landlord is asking for a pet fee, but I heard something about pet deposits being illegal here? What can they actually charge a tenant for having a pet? Is pet rent a thing too?
