GO Train from Mississauga to Downtown - Reliability?

I'm moving to Toronto and will be using the GO Train from Mississauga. How reliable is the GO Train for getting downtown? Also, what's the frequency like during peak hours and how much does a monthly pass cost? Any tips on navigating the transit would be appreciated!
