How's the Marquette Ave area for families and rentals?

I'm considering moving to the Marquette Ave area in Toronto with my family and would love to hear from anyone who lives there. What's the safety like? Are there good amenities nearby? Also, what's the rent like in comparison to the rest of the city? Thanks!
