Tired of landlords! Anyone else renting a larger place with friends?

I'm so fed up with my current landlord! Looking into group house rentals, we're considering a 3BR split between friends to ease costs. Just wondering if anyone has experience renting 4 bedroom places for professionals and if you found it to be cheaper overall. Any tips on surviving the process?
