Is it worth living near the subway in Toronto?

Hey everyone! I’ve just moved here and I’m torn between saving on rent in neighborhoods like Scarborough or paying extra to live closer to the subway. I’ve heard living near the subway can save you a ton of commuting time, but is the rent hike really worth it? What do you think?
