Seriously, how is renting this expensive now?!

Another rent increase, seriously?! I’m looking at a dingy bachelor for $2800 – are they out of their minds?! Just got outbid again, and I’m so sick of these bidding wars. I saw 15 places this week, all gone in hours. This market is impossible!
