Just lost out on another rental – bidding wars are brutal!

I can't believe I just got outbid again! Offered $150 over asking, but someone came in with a year upfront. How are people even able to do that? It feels like I'm in a never-ending competition with no chance to win. Anyone else feeling this pain?
