Urgent: Concern About Special Assessment and Its Impact on Renters

I'm really worried about the special assessment that's being discussed for our condo. Do renters like me have to cover these unexpected costs? If condo fees go up, will that mean a rent increase for us? I'm seriously considering leaving because I can't handle more financial strain right now.
