Should I downsize to a condo in the city this spring?

I'm seriously considering moving from my house to a smaller condo downtown as an empty nester. Pros: less maintenance, closer to amenities, and a vibrant lifestyle. Cons: higher cost, less space for visiting family. Can someone convince me this is the right move or why I should hold off?
