Upstairs neighbor's late-night parties - how to address this?

My upstairs neighbor has been throwing loud parties nearly every weekend, and it often goes on until 3am. I've tried to be patient, but it's really affecting my sleep. How do you deal with this type of noise? Should I talk to them directly or report it to the landlord?
