Constantly outbid on rentals - is this normal now?

I just lost another place because someone offered $250 over asking! This is getting ridiculous. How are people even managing to afford these crazy bids? I feel like I’m stuck in a never-ending cycle of lost opportunities. Is this just the new norm for rentals in Toronto?
