Need advice on dealing with a roommate's unexpected job transfer

My roommate just got a job offer in another city and plans to move out in a month, but we're both on the lease for another 7 months. I'm worried about covering the rent and the logistics of finding a new roommate. Has anyone dealt with this? What are my options?
