Elevator broke on moving day: 12 floors of chaos!

Worst moving day ever! The elevator in our building broke down just as we were loading everything onto it. We ended up carrying all our furniture and boxes up 12 flights of stairs! Anyone else had a similar experience? How did you survive such a disaster?
