Confused by a clause about subletting for short-term rentals?

I came across a lease that has a clause saying I can't sublet even short-term rentals. Isn't part of the appeal for short-term leases the flexibility to share the place if I need to? This feels a bit weird to me. What if my situation changes unexpectedly? Is this common?
