Help! $5000 Deposit is Too Much for Me!

I'm really stressed about finding a place in Toronto. The $4000-5000 upfront deposit is just impossible for me right now. Are there any payment plans or deposit assistance programs? What are some alternatives to a traditional deposit? Any tips for saving up would also be appreciated!
