Need help deciding between condo and apartment in downtown Toronto!

I’m moving to Toronto next month and I'm torn between renting a condo in the waterfront area ($2500 for 1 bed) or a slightly cheaper apartment in Queen West ($2200 for a similar size). What are the key differences? Is the added amenities worth the extra cost? Any tips for a first-time renter?
