Is Kensington Market still a good rental option?

A friend just moved out of Kensington Market, and it's got me thinking. I remember when it was all about the vibrant culture and art, but lately, I've noticed more touristy spots popping up. Anyone currently renting there? Is it still worth it for the monthly rent, or should I be looking elsewhere?
