Confusion about Affordability in Toronto - Who Can Afford This?

I just don't understand how people afford to live in Toronto anymore. What income is needed to even rent a small apartment? Are only rich people able to survive here? It feels like the cost of living is skyrocketing, and I'm genuinely confused about how regular folks make it work.
