Average rent hit $2400; can we afford living here any longer?

I just saw a 1BR listed for $2400 in North York—it's heartbreaking! I remember when my friend’s 1BR was just $1200 back in 2015. How can anyone making $60k a year afford these rents? It feels impossible to secure a place without jumping through all these hoops.
