Subletting complications during job relocation - advice needed

I'm relocating for a new job in a different city in two months, but I have 6 months left on my lease. My friend is interested in subletting, but I'm unsure of the process and my landlord's restrictions. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? What steps should I take?
