Toronto Housing Price Shock: Why So High Compared to Others?

Seriously, why is Toronto housing so ridiculously expensive? I mean, I’m seeing places here that cost more than equivalent spots in NYC! Vancouver is also insane, but Toronto takes the cake. Makes no sense when you compare it to other Canadian and US cities. Are these prices even justified?
