Reality check: Landlord wants 3 months of rent as deposit - legal?

My landlord is asking for a deposit that's three months' rent! Is this even legal in Ontario? I’ve been renting in Toronto for years but haven’t seen anything like this. Should I be worried, or is this standard practice nowadays? Red flag or no?
