Need advice on parking cost and lease negotiation

I recently moved into a new rental and need parking, but when I inquired about it, the landlord said it would increase my rent by an extra $200/month. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is this a typical increase? What options do I have for negotiating or finding cheaper parking nearby?
