What’s it like living in Leslieville these days?

I’ve heard Leslieville is super family-friendly, but what about the rental prices? Are they as steep as people say? I love the parks and cafes, but I’m curious about safety and if the vibe’s still laid-back, or if it’s becoming too hipster for my taste.
