Transit-friendly rental advice near subway lines?

I'm relocating to Toronto for work in March and really need advice on good neighborhoods close to the TTC subway. Is $2,200 a month reasonable for a one-bedroom in Leslieville? How's the transit access there? Also, would love any thoughts on living near the Dundas West area. Thanks!
