Concern about being charged $50 for credit check - is this normal?

My landlord has asked for a $50 fee for a credit check before I can sign the lease. I’ve never rented before, so I’m unsure if this is standard practice or something I should be worried about. Is this normal, or could it be a red flag? Am I being naive about this process?
