Should I take the $2300 1BR near the subway or save $500 a month?

I'm torn between a $2300 1BR right by the subway and a $1800 place that's a 20-minute bus ride away. The subway spot is perfect for my commuting needs, but saving $500 monthly is tempting. What should I do? I need to either validate my choice or stop me from overspending!
