Roommate hunt in TO - anyone else dealing with odd requests?

So, I'm trying to find a roommate in Toronto, but I keep running into some bizarre lease clauses and quirky landlord demands. Like, is it normal for a landlord to want a headshot of potential roommates? Or to insist we buy them coffee if we want to discuss lease terms? What’s your experience?
