Tired of Losing Apartments to Higher Bids!

The rental market in Toronto is a nightmare right now! I just lost another apartment to a higher offer and the sealed bids make it even trickier. How on earth am I supposed to know how high to go? Any strategies or advice to navigate this madness would be welcome!
