Upstairs neighbors making noise at odd hours - seeking advice

My upstairs neighbors have been making loud noises late at night, like they're moving furniture or bowling. It's disruptive, especially when I have to wake up early for work. How do you handle noisy neighbors? Am I being unreasonable for wanting to complain about this? What steps should I take?
